What happens to land after cattle
Across parts of the Brazilian Amazon, forest was once cleared for cattle. After years of grazing, much of that pasture is degraded: the soil is compacted, nutrients have been lost and only grass remains. Left alone, such land often stays open for a long time, because the seeds and shade a forest needs to return are missing.
From seed to planted plot
The planting is local from start to finish, carried out with our planting partners Rioterra and Agroforestree.
- Seeds are collected by families living beside the forest.
- The seedlings are raised in local nurseries.
- Local crews plant them out on the former pasture.
Why families need income from the land
Restoration only lasts if the people who live there benefit from it. If trees bring in nothing, there is little reason to protect them when money is tight. That is why our plots are designed as food forests rather than trees alone.
Your contribution, linked to a location
Every €10 funds one GPS-located agroforestry plot with five trees or shrubs in Brazil. Your account shows the plots Assigned to you, their coordinates and available field records. Individual purchases do not include CO2 rights and do not replace reducing your own emissions.
